Mission Statement

The Association has been formed to ensure members providing Blue Light Driver Training, governed by the demands of section 19 of the Road Safety Act 2006, are properly represented at discussions with the Department for Transport.

The Aims and Objectives


To lobby and represent the interests of Independent Blue Light Training Providers at meetings with the Department for Transport and other relevant governmental and accrediting organisations. To provide advice and host a forum for Members to aid the development of Trainer and Training Body status for independent providers and those currently working in this field.

The Association will also promote training standards to its members. It will advise members wishing to gain qualifications and requisite approval of accrediting bodies. Trainer development will be supported by the Association through organised CPD events and through regular updates relating to legislation and educational standards.


The Association will provide the Department for Transport a point of contact with the Independent sector to facilitate representation for the development of rules relating to trainer qualification and both internal and external Quality Assurance.
